Gorzycki Middle School

Daily Announcements: 03/03/22

Today is a B Day

Attentions athletes who played on the Boys B Soccer Team this year. Remember to meet coach Murray after school on Tuesday 3/8 to take our yearbook picture. We will meet outside the gym by the bike rack. If you have questions please see coach Murray in room 708.

The 8th grade boys basketball B-Team played for the City Championship last night vs Murchison. The Tigers led the entire game thanks to tough defense, heads up plays, and raining three’s. The Matador’s tried to pull ahead in the 4th quarter but your Tigers held on strong to win the game 29-26! Please congratulate the 8th grade B-teamers today, your Austin ISD CITY CHAMPIONS! And good luck to the A-teams tonight.

FCA, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will meet NEXT Friday morning in the library from 7:50-8:15. Enjoy your long weekend Tigers!

Best of luck to our Chamber and Concert Orchestra students as they travel to the Performing Arts Center today to perform in the UIL Concert and Sightreading evaluation. We know you will make Gorzycki proud!

Attention Dungeons and Dragons club members: There will be no D&D club meeting this week. The next meeting for D&D club will be next Thursday, March 10th. See Mr. Chien in Room 604 for questions.

This week is the last week to donate to the Souper Bowl of Caring! Currently, Student Council has collected over 1600 dollars to donate to the Central Texas Food Bank, but there's still more time to donate and vote for a teacher to be pied in the face! The top 3 teachers are currently Mr. Chien, Ms. Smeltzer, and Mr. Kagan. Donate and vote until the end of the weekend, and each dollar contributed will buy 4 meals for hungry Texans in need.

Hey GMS students! Are you an avid reader? Do you like helping others? Are you looking for another elective class next year? If so, you should apply to be a library student aide. Applications are available in the library. Stop by the library and see Ms. Fuller for more information.

Students - Please make sure you double-check your name and picture for the yearbook this week. Portraits are posted by grade level in the 600, 700, and 800 hallways. If you find a mistake, please fill out the form located on the display and return it to Room 508. This is the only week you will be able to make corrections! Please note that we cannot use names in the yearbook that are not officially on file with Austin ISD. Questions? See Ms. Sindt in Room 508.

Boys track tryouts are March 7th, 8th and 9th before school at 6:30. In order to tryout, you must signup in the Boys Coach's office by Thursday March 3rd. The schedule of events is also in the office. Any questions please see Coach Neary or Coach Fourmy.

All 7th and 8th grade students interested in trying out for the Gorzycki tennis teams, please stop by Coach Gaines office in the gym and sign up.
