Overview

Gorzycki Middle School opened in the Fall of 2009. We are named for Diane Gorzycki, a dedicated and well-loved band director for AISD.

Belief Statements

At Gorzycki, we believe that effective instruction is what the students learn, not simply what they have been taught. We believe that we set expectations and our students will rise to them, and that a positive and safe school climate is essential to learning. We believe that a partnership between families and our school is crucial for students to become productive, socially responsible, and contributing members of a diverse society.

Gorzycki Middle School is named in honor of longtime music educator and band director Diane Elaine Gorzycki, who worked with the Austin ISD for 30 years. GMS strives to create a secure and collaborative climate where students are empowered to challenge, design, build, and lead tomorrow’s world citizens.

La secundaria Gorzycki recibió su nombre en honor a la educadora musical y directora de banda Diane Elaine Gorzycki, quien trabajó con el Distrito Escolar Independiente de Austin durante 30 años. GMS se esfuerza por crear un ambiente seguro y colaborativo donde los estudiantes estén capacitados para desafiar, diseñar, construir y liderar.
