Daily Announcements: 01/23/2024

All students will take the practice Reading STAAR test tomorrow, January 24th and the practice Math STAAR test on Thursday, January 25th. Posters with testing room numbers are posted in the commons. Students, please look at the posters to know which room to go to at 8:20 tomorrow morning. You will test in the same room both days. If you have the text to speech accommodation, please bring your own wired headphones. We will follow the same bell schedule as MAP Growth testing. All classes will be about 30 minutes long. 

Attention Dungeons and Dragons Club: There will be no D&D club meeting this week. Again, there will be no D&D club meeting this week, January 24th. Meetings will resume on the 31st of January.

This past Saturday, 8 of our Gorzycki Band students participated in the Austin ISD All-City Ensembles. They were nominated by their directors for their outstanding achievement and dedication to the Gorzycki Band. 8th Graders participating in the All City Concert Band were Cameron B, Eleanor B, Ella K, James M, Luke T, and Rocco V. 8th graders participating in the All City Jazz Band were Jacob L and Drew S. Congratulations to all on a beautiful concert and for representing Gorzycki Band so well. We are proud of you!

Attention all students: FCA, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will hold our next Huddle this Friday after school. Huddles will be every Friday after school, unless noted otherwise, in room 814 from 3:55-4:25. Those attending need to arrange a ride to pick them up in the front of the school at 4:30. Come join us for fellowship, food, and fun. Remember, FCA is not just for athletes. All are welcome!

Attention all NJHS members... Our meeting today has been postponed until next Tuesday, January 30th due to the rain. Our picture will be taken outside. Please wear your shirt next week.

Students - Please make sure you double-check your name and picture for the yearbook this week. Portraits are posted by grade level in the 600, 700, and 800 hallways. PALS is a peer helping program in which a select group of eighth grade students engage in mentoring, team-building, leadership development, campus-wide problem solving, and service activities. Applications are available now from Ms. Sindt in room 508 or in the counselor’s office. Applications are due Thursday, February 8.
