Today, we continue our recognition of Native American Heritage Month by talking about one of the original GOATS - Jim Thorpe, who was told by the King of Sweden “You sir, are the greatest athlete in the world” after he competed in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. He was the first Native American to win an Olympic gold for the U.S., won two gold medals - one in the pentathlon and one in the decathlon - while wearing shoes of two different sizes that he found in a trash can after someone stole his shoes. Thorpe also played professional football, baseball, and basketball (and loved to hunt and fish).
7th Grade Boys open gym will be Friday, November 20th at 6:30am, see Coach Gaines for more information.
Attention all students: FCA, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will hold our next Huddle this Friday morning. Huddles will be every Friday morning, unless noted otherwise, in the small gym from 7:40-8:10am. Those attending need to enter the small gym through the doors near the outside basketball courts. Come join us for fellowship, food, and fun. Remember, FCA is not just for athletes. All are welcome!
Students check the lost and found by the gym and find your water bottle or that jacket that your mom keeps asking you to look for. All unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity on Friday, November 21st after school.
