Daily Announcements: 11/18/25

Today, as we continue our recognition of Native American Heritage Month, we celebrate Suzan Shown Hargo.  She is a poet, writer, lecturer, curator, and policy advocate for Native American rights. Currently, she serves as President of the Morning Star Institute, a Native American rights organization.  Growing up, Ms. Hargo lived in Italy for four years while her dad was stationed there in the Army.  She worked in radio and theater in New York City for years.  Ms. Hargo was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014.

Did you know that 40% of the residents at Brush Country Rehab and Nursing Home have no family to spend the holidays with? Let's spread a little holiday cheer, Tigers! NJHS is sponsoring the Adopt-a Senior Holiday Gift Drive from November 17th through December 5th. Scan the QR code on the donation box at the front of the school or on any of the flyers around school for a list of items needed for these wonderful seniors. Order directly from the Amazon wishlist or drop off donations in the box by the front entrance to the school. You can also visit tinyurl.com/GMSadopt-a-senior for more information.

Hey sixth graders! Come join PALS at Lunch Buddies today outside the cafeteria. Lunch buddies is open to all sixth graders, and it’s a great opportunity to talk to PALS, get to know more of your peers, and socialize. See you there!

Attention all current NJHS members... This is your reminder that we have a meeting today after school in the cafeteria from 4:00 until 5:15 p.m. Please be sure you have a ride to pick you up out front promptly at 5:15. And don't forget to wear your t-shirt If you have one.

Wednesday's Lettuce Talk is canceled for all grades.  Mrs. Parnell has to be off campus all day.  Again, this is for Wednesday.  6th grade Lunch Buddies and Lettuce Talk today is still happening.  Today yes. Tomorrow no.

Hey Tigers! The Coats for Kids drive is officially underway! Let’s help keep Austin warm by donating new or gently used coats of any size.
