As we continue recognizing Arab American Heritage Month, today we celebrate Dr. Elias Zerhouni, an Algerian-American doctor and scientist who moved to the U.S. at age 24 with only $300 in his pocket!  He was the Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he managed thousands of scientists working to cure diseases like cancer and diabetes.  Dr. Zerhouni also is a pioneer in MRI technology. He invented techniques to help doctors see inside the human body more clearly than ever before to find heart disease and other illnesses early.  Dr. Zerhouni also served as a U.S. Science Envoy, traveling the world to help different countries work together on scientific discoveries. His Message is:  “Science has no borders. By sharing ideas, we can solve the world's biggest health problems together.”

Friday, May 1 is Be Seen in Green Day to kick off Mental Health Awareness Month.    Green is the official color of mental health awareness. Wearing green is a simple way to:

Show support for one another

Promote awareness of mental health and wellbeing

Help reduce stigma around mental health conversations

Remind others that they are not alone
