Todays’ Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month person of the day is Dat Nguyen, former Texas A & M and Dallas Cowboy linebacker. Mr. Nguyen was born in a refugee camp in Arkansas after his family fled Vietnam. He was part of Texas A & M’s “Wrecking Crew” defense and remains the school’s all-time leading tackler almost 30 year later. Mr. Nguyen made history as the first Vietnamese-American ever drafted into the NFL, where he played seven seasons for the Dallas Cowboys. Despite critics calling him "too small," he led the Cowboys in tackles for three seasons and was Second-team All-Pro in 2003. In 2017, Mr. Nguyen was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Dat Nguyen’s legacy is a powerful reminder that passion and hard work can break any barrier.
