In honor of Jewish American Heritage Month, today we celebrate Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the first Jewish woman (and second woman ever) to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. Before serving on the Supreme Court, she won five landmark Supreme Court cases, effectively ending legal gender discrimination in the U.S. Justice Ginsburg often said her work was guided by the Jewish principle of Tzedek, which means 'Justice.' She spent her life fighting for equal rights for everyone, famously displaying the Hebrew command 'Justice, justice shall you pursue' on her office wall.
