In honor of Jewish American Heritage Month, we recognize Steve Adler, who served as the Mayor of Austin from 2015 to 2023. Before his time in office, Mr. Adler spent over 20 years as a civil rights attorney, fighting for equal pay and fair treatment for all workers. As a leader in the Jewish community, he served as the Board Chair for the Anti-Defamation League, helping to launch programs that combat bullying and hate. Throughout his career, Mayor Adler has lived out the value of Tikkun Olam—a Hebrew phrase meaning 'repairing the world'—through his dedication to equity and justice for everyone in our city.
