For the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we recognize Irma Lerma Rangel, the first Mexican-American woman elected to the Texas House of Representatives.  She taught school for 14 years before going to law school and becoming the first Mexican-American female attorney in Kingsville.  To recognize her role in education and leadership, the first all-girls public school in Texas was named the Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School.
