Congratulations to the boys are girls cross country teams for an outstanding performance last weekend at the Marble Falls Invitational. The 8th grade girls won the meet, the 7th grade boys and girls finished 3rd, and the 8th grade boys took 6th. Top performance for each team were Lana B for 8th grade girls, Jackson D for 8th grade boys, Bellamy W for 7th grade girls, and Sean B for 7th grade boys. A special shout out goes to 7th grader Sean B for breaking the school record for the 2 mile with a time of 12:09. Congratulations runners! The next meet will be this Saturday at Brentwood.
As we continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, today we recognize politician Henry B. Gonzalez, of San Antonio. He started out serving on the San Antonio City Council and helped desegregate city swimming pools and other recreation facilities. Mr. Gonzalez remains the longest serving Hispanic member of congress, representing San Antonio and serving from 1961-1999. He was a founding member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

The Boys Soccer tryouts will be on October 16 and 17. Any 7th or 8th grader interested in trying out for the GMS Boys Soccer Team needs to sign up before October 15. Please see Coach MacKenzie in Room 714 for more details.
