In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we spotlight Frida Kahlo, born Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón was a Mexican painter who is best known for her symbolic self-portraits and her unique folk style.  Through her life and work, she has become a feminist symbol of creativity, breaking social norms, and Mexican identity.  Kahlo’s fame has continued to grow after her death, and her art is celebrated as a representation of the human spirit. 

This week, the Gorzycki Orchestra is continuing their annual Poinsettia Fundraiser sale! From now until Friday, students, families, and anyone in the GMS community are encouraged to contribute to this fundraiser to help raise money for our orchestra program. If you would like to buy a beautiful, red poinsettia plant for the holiday season, or even make a donation to the orchestra program, please find an orchestra member today to make your purchase! 

Attention all students: FCA, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will hold our next Huddle this Friday morning. Huddles will be every Friday morning, unless noted otherwise, in the small gym from 7:40-8:10am. Those attending need to enter the small gym through the doors near the outside basketball courts. Come join us for fellowship, food, and fun. Remember, FCA is not just for athletes. All are welcome! 

Hey Tigers! Picture retakes will be this Friday up on the cafeteria stage during all 3 lunches. If you didn't get your picture taken, or want a new one, make sure you see the photographer during your lunch! Questions? See Ms. Sindt in room 508. 

The Boys Soccer tryouts will be on October 16 and 17. Any 7th or 8th grader interested in trying out for the GMS Boys Soccer Team needs to sign up before October 15. Please see Coach MacKenzie in Room 714 for more details.
