For the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we recognize Irma Lerma Rangel, the first Mexican American woman elected to the Texas House of Representatives.  She taught school for 14 years before going to law school and becoming the first Mexican American female attorney in Kingsville.  To recognize her role in education and leadership, the first all-girls public school in Texas was named the Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School. 

Students, the Ballet Folklorico from Akins HS will be at GMS today performing their traditional Mexican folk dance during all 3 lunches on the stage in the cafeteria.  Please be on your best behavior and enjoy the show.
