Daily Announcements: 11/20/25

Today we recognize Thomas Begay as part of Native American Heritage Month.  Begay enlisted in the Marine Corps when he was just 16 years old and the United States was fighting in World War II.  He had hoped to be an aerial gunner but was assigned to Code Talker School instead.  He spoke only Navajo until age 13, growing up on his family’s sheep farm.  Mr. Begay served as a Code Talker at the Battle of Iwo Jima. He later enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War.  He served in the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Indian Affairs for 40 years.

Did you know that 40% of the residents at Brush Country Rehab and Nursing Home have no family to spend the holidays with? Let's spread a little holiday cheer, Tigers! NJHS is sponsoring the Adopt-a Senior Holiday Gift Drive from November 17th through December 5th. Scan the QR code on the donation box at the front of the school or on any of the flyers around school for a list of items needed for these wonderful seniors. Order directly from the Amazon wishlist or drop off donations in the box by the front entrance to the school. You can also visit tinyurl.com/GMSadopt-a-senior for more information.

Attention all students: FCA, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will hold our next Huddle this Friday morning. Huddles will be every Friday morning, unless noted otherwise, in the small gym from 7:40-8:10am. Those attending need to enter the small gym through the doors near the outside basketball courts. Come join us for fellowship, food, and fun. Remember, FCA is not just for athletes. All are welcome!

Hey Tigers! The Coats for Kids drive is officially underway! Let’s help keep Austin warm by donating new or gently used coats of any size. Every coat you bring earns you a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize! Drop off your coats anytime between now and November 21st—let’s see how many we can collect!

7th Grade Boys open gym will be Friday, November 21st at 6:30am, see Coach Gaines for more information.

Students check the lost and found by the gym. All unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity next Friday, November 21st after school.
