Daily Announcements: 04/07/26

In celebration of Arab American Heritage Month, today we recognize Dr. Mona

Hanna-Attisha the pediatrician and whistle-blower who exposed the Flint Water Crisis.

In 2015 Dr. Hanna-Attisha, the daughter of Iraqi immigrants,  risked her career by releasing research showing that lead levels in Flint's children had doubled after the city switched its water source. Dr. Hanna-Attisha’s advocacy forced a federal emergency declaration, bringing clean water and critical resources to the city of Flint, Michigan.

She was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the world and received the Freedom of Expression Courage Award.  We celebrate Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha for her fearless dedication to science, justice, and the health of our future generations.

Hey Tigers! As summer is around the corner, a new donation event called Sunny Days Drive is happening at our school! Have any new or gently used items like beach towels, flip flops, swimsuits for kids through teens, or any other swim related items? Then you should think about donating! You can drop off donations at Gorzycki Middle School during school hours, from April 8th to April 28th. The collection boxes will be set up outside of the  front office, and to the right of the main staircase in the commons. These items will go towards less fortunate kids who don't have easy access to swim items this summer.
