Congratulations to the 8th grade A and B girls volleyball team for taming the Cougars last night on the Tiger Den. Way to go Lady Tigers! 

Attention 6th graders!  Our first GMS Dance this year is just for 6th graders!  This year's Glow Dance will be today, September 11th and is a fun tradition that welcomes 6th graders to GMS!  Tickets are $15 and can be purchased during 6th grade lunch today. 

Attention all students: FCA, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is back! Our first Huddle of the year will take place Friday, September 18th IN THE MORNING from 7:30-8:05am in the SMALL GYM. Huddles will be every Friday before school, unless noted otherwise, in the small gym. Those attending may enter the small gym at 7:30 through the doors near the outside basketball courts. Come join us for fellowship, food, and fun. Remember, FCA is not just for athletes. All are welcome! 

On the morning of September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists attacked the United States. They hijacked four passenger airliners in mid-flight. The terrorists flew two of the planes into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. The impacts caused the buildings to catch fire and then collapse. Another plane destroyed a section of the U.S. military headquarters, the Pentagon, in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth plane, United Flight 93, crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. White House officials believe that the terrorists on that plane intended to destroy either the White House or the U.S. Capitol; evidence indicates that passengers on this flight resisted the terrorists’ efforts to carry out such a plan. In all, nearly 3,000 Americans were killed in the 9/11 attacks. 

These attacks shocked the world, and were condemned by governments across the globe. The immediate response following the attacks included memorials and vigils, not only in New York City and the United States, but internationally as well. People everywhere, and of all ages, sent cards, gifts and money, and many came to New York City to offer help.
