Hey Tigers! Here is today’s Red Ribbon Week fact - According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, there are many reasons why people start taking drugs or abuse alcohol. These include trying to escape from reality, relieve pain, or just to fit in. Even once people realize the dangers, they may be unable to stop using drugs or alcohol because they become addicted. Addiction happens when you take a drug repeatedly. Drugs release a chemical in your brain called dopamine, which makes us feel good. Repeated use of drugs or alcohol floods the brain with too much dopamine, which changes the way our brain responds to the drug and makes it hard to stop using it. So, remember to Just Say No to all drugs unless you are under a doctor’s care!
